Sophie Alda an artist, designer, maker and facilitator working with:

-The production and development of objects exploring the relationship between the functional, the sculptural and the narratively suggestive, approaching materiality and tactility in a playful way, rejecting the hierarchy of the practically useful/ art object within craft or otherwise.

-Co-operation - creating the space and structure to facilitate production and community, skill sharing, interdisciplinary collaboration and independence in a precarious environment.

She is a founding member of workshop co-operative Clay Collective based in Hackney, London. Our aims in forming the organisation and space were to provide a democratic and supportive space and community in which practitioners could work and collaborate, sharing skills, space, ideas and resources.

-Education and facilitation. Using techniques of making to explore and develop an understanding of artist’s practice Since 2015 she's been lucky enough to develop and deliver workshops and education programming to organisations such as the Tate, the Camden Arts Centre, The Whitechapel Gallery, The Craft Council and Somerset House.
